KUALA LUMPUR: North Korean chemist Ri Jong-Chol was deported today.
Ri who was at the Immigration headquarters in Putrajaya earlier this morning, arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at around 3.30pm.
He was driven straight to the runway escorted by armed policemen.
Another embassy car was also seen heading towards the runway.
It is believed that Ri's children were in the second car and are also leaving the country with him.
Ri's remand ended today and he was released from the Sepang district police headquarters and was sent to the Immigration headquarters in Putrajaya to begin the process of his deportation.
The North Korean was arrested in connection with the murder of Kim Jong-Nam, the estranged half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
