3 arrested in kidnapping, sexual assault case in Waynesville, 4th suspect sought

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. (WLOS) —
A kidnapping and sexual assault case involving drugs is unfolding in Waynesville.

So far, three people are facing charges: Dona Mathis Lowe, Khalil Jones and Jamie Christopher are all charged in the case.

Police are looking for a fourth suspect, 25-year-old April Moore, who they think was involved in a disturbing scenario in which a woman was subjected to sexual assault at a home on Riverbend Street, and was held against her will.

Investigators say the incident happened on September 17, 2017.

According to court documents, those arrested believed a woman had stolen money and hid a prescription pill bottle inside her body. The court record indicates the accuser was held down while a search was performed of her body cavities.

The woman ended up at the hospital, triggering the investigation.

Investigators arrested Jones, Christopher and Lowe last Friday.

Riverbend Street residents look for steps to be taken to improve their neighborhood, and, especially, to keep children safe.

“If they don't get these drugs off the street and watch who the landlord rents to,” Stella Payne said.
She said police are very responsive, but with drug activity in the area, she’d like to see more patrols.
Jones and Christopher face first-degree kidnapping and first-degree forcible sex offense charges.

Lowe is charged with assault and battery, assault with a deadly weapon and first-degree forcible sex offense.

Police are also looking for Moore as a person of interest. Please give them a call if you know her whereabouts.

Each of the three charged face a $150,000 bond with a court date scheduled for October 11.
